Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations are policies that make companies responsible for their packaging waste (such as envelopes, shipping bags and boxes) to lower its impact on the environment. These regulations differ per country, but usually include the addition of the correct recycling symbols and labels to packaging, paying fees based on packaging volume and material and registering with the correct authorities and organizations.

What actions does Printeers take?

Registrations and fees

To ensure responsible packaging and recycling, we are currently compliant with the following EPR initiatives:

  • VerpackG in Germany;
  • Leko in France;
  • Näringslivets Producentansvar i Sverige AB (NPA) in Sweden.

We declare the amounts and kinds of packaging we use to the relevant organizations in these countries and pay the necessary fees. By doing so, we cover the costs for all packaging waste. This includes our own packaging as well as any packaging you stock with us.

Recycling symbols and labels

We make sure that the correct symbols and  labels are present on all of our own packaging options.

What actions should you take as a business owner?

Registrations and fees

In some EU countries, the (web)shop that sells the product is responsible for the packaging waste, despite not being the party that produces and ships the products. This applies to Belgium, Spain, Austria and Italy and perhaps other countries. It is important that you are aware of the rules and regulations in the countries where you are responsible for packaging waste.

If you sell and ship products to your customers that are not from our warehouse, you need to register with the relevant EPR organizations in all the countries that you ship to. If you only ship our products or products that have been stored in our warehouse, we recommend you to cancel your registration with any of the above-mentioned organizations as this will save you money!

Recycling symbols and labels

Any of your packaging should be provided with the correct symbols, labels and information. This includes packaging that you store in our warehouse. Please note that the requirements can differ per country, so do make sure that you are complying with the rules of the countries you are shipping to. All symbols and labels should be clearly visible on the packaging. To help you with this, you can download the symbols provided below.
