Rendertokens and the weekly render limit

Creating renders consumes rendertokens. Every organization gets a weekly rendertoken budget, and each render you create deducts the token cost of its combination from that budget. This applies to renders created in the Dashboard and through the Partner API.

What a render costs

The token cost of a render depends on the scene and the perspective you pick: complex scenes and heavier perspectives (such as higher resolutions) cost more than the classic render. You always see the exact cost before you create the render:

  • On the Create render page , next to the Create mockup button.
  • In the API, as the tokenCost field on composition responses.

Re-rendering an existing render costs the same as creating a new one.

Your weekly budget

By default your organization can spend 1,000 rendertokens per week. Usage resets every Monday at 00:00 (Amsterdam time), in line with the weekly billing period. Your current usage is shown on the Create render page; API users can check it with GET /rendertokens.

When your remaining budget does not cover a render's token cost, that render cannot be created. Creation resumes at the weekly reset, or right away when a subscription (or extra tokens from support) raises your limit. Existing renders stay available and orders are not affected.

Raise the limit with a rendertoken subscription

If you need more, activate a rendertoken subscription under Settings → Subscriptions: pick the size that fits (or "No subscription" to stop). Two sizes are available, billed through your regular weekly invoice (prices exclude VAT):

SubscriptionWeekly limitPrice
Small5,000 rendertokens€ 7.50 per week
Medium20,000 rendertokens€ 25 per week

A few things to know:

  • A subscription starts immediately. For the first week you pay a reduced price, calculated over the remaining days of the week, and your weekly limit becomes a matching share of the subscription's tokens.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically every Monday.
  • Only one rendertoken subscription is active at a time. Upgrading from Small to Medium takes effect immediately: your limit for the current week grows by the difference between the two sizes, and you only pay the price difference for that week.
  • Switching to a smaller subscription is scheduled: your current subscription stays active until the end of the week (which is already paid), and the smaller one takes over automatically the following Monday. Nothing is charged when you schedule the switch, and you can undo it any time before the week ends. There are no refunds for the remainder of a week.
  • When you select "No subscription", your subscription stays active until the end of the current week (which is already paid) and simply doesn't renew. If you change your mind before the week ends, select your subscription again. You won't be charged again for that week.
