Rendertokens and the weekly render limit
Photorealistic renders, which you can generate from any angle, take a lot more computing power than a classic render, so we use rendertokens to manage this fairly.
Every organization gets a weekly rendertoken budget. Each render you create takes tokens from this budget, based on how much power it needs. This applies to renders you create in the Dashboard and through the Partner API.
What a render costs
A classic render costs 1 rendertoken. All other renders, including photorealistic ones, cost 10 rendertokens.
You always see the exact cost before you create a render:
- On the Create render page, next to the Create mockup button.
- In the API, as the
tokenCostfield on composition responses.
Re-rendering an existing render costs the same as creating a new one.
Your weekly budget
By default, your organization can spend 1,000 rendertokens per week. This resets every Monday at 00:00 (Amsterdam time), in line with your weekly billing period.
You can check your current usage and reset date in two places:
- At the top of the Create render page.
- Under Settings → Subscriptions.
API users can check this with GET /rendertokens.
If your remaining budget doesn't cover a render's cost, you can't create that render. You can create renders again after the weekly reset, or right away if you get a subscription (or extra tokens from support). Your existing renders stay available, and your orders aren't affected.
Raise the limit with a rendertoken subscription
If you need more tokens, activate a rendertoken subscription under Settings → Subscriptions. Choose the size that suits you, or select "No subscription" to stop. There are two sizes, both billed through your regular weekly invoice (prices exclude VAT):
| Subscription | Weekly limit | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 5,000 rendertokens | € 7.50 per week |
| Medium | 20,000 rendertokens | € 25 per week |
A few things to know:
- Your subscription starts right away. In the first week, you pay a reduced price for the days left in that week, and your weekly limit is a matching share of the subscription's tokens.
- Subscriptions renew automatically every Monday.
- You can only have one rendertoken subscription active at a time. If you upgrade from Small to Medium, this happens right away: your limit for the current week goes up by the difference between the two sizes, and you only pay the price difference for that week.
- If you switch to a smaller subscription, the change is scheduled. Your current subscription stays active until the end of the week, since you've already paid for it. The smaller subscription then takes over the following Monday. You won't be charged when you schedule the switch, and you can cancel it any time before the week ends. There are no refunds for the rest of a week.
- If you select "No subscription", your current subscription stays active until the end of the week, since you've already paid for it. It simply won't renew. If you change your mind before the week ends, select your subscription again, and you won't be charged again for that week.
