# Ordering addon products

> Addon products such as retail packaging are ordered right after the product they belong to, in the same quantity.

Some products in our catalog are not printed but added to another product: retail packaging, an insert card, a sleeve. We call these **addon products**. We prepare an addon together with the product it belongs to, so the two always ship as one.

## How to order an addon

Place the addon on the orderline directly after the product it belongs to. Two rules apply:

- An addon orderline always follows an orderline with a regular product. It cannot be the first orderline of an order. Several addons can follow one product.
- The addon orderline has the same quantity as the product orderline before it.

For example, to order two printed cases each in its own retail box, place the case with quantity 2 on the first orderline and the box with quantity 2 on the second.

An order that breaks one of these rules is refused when it is placed, in the Dashboard as well as through the API and connected webshops. The message names the orderline to correct.

## Canceling an addon

An addon follows its product. When you cancel (part of) a product orderline, the addons that belong to it are canceled by the same amount, so every remaining item still gets its addon. You can also cancel an addon by itself, but only completely: canceling half of an addon orderline is not possible.
