Connecting a store lets your webshop forward its orders to Printeers automatically, so you do not have to enter them by hand. You set this up once per shop in the Dashboard.

## Add a store

Open [Stores](https://dashboard.printeers.com/settings/stores) and select **Create store**, or go straight to [Create store](https://dashboard.printeers.com/settings/stores/create). You will see a card for each way to connect.

## Choose your platform

- **Shopify**: install our Shopify app and link your shop. If you have already started an installation, a resume button appears so you can pick up where you left off. While the installation is unfinished, opening the Printeers app from your Shopify admin also brings you back to this step. You can also open the app listing directly from the App Store link.
- **WooCommerce**: install the Printeers plugin on your WordPress site and connect it from the plugin settings. See the steps below.
- **API**: connect your own system or a custom integration. Choose this option and you continue to a short form where you pick the billing account, give the store a name and set a contact email address for incidents.

## Shopify: location name conflict

When you connect a Shopify shop, Printeers creates a fulfillment service in it, and Shopify adds a location named "Printeers" for it. Shopify requires location names to be unique, and this includes deactivated locations. If your shop already has a location with that name, the connection cannot complete: the store's settings page shows a warning naming the conflicting location, and an issue appears in your [Action center](https://dashboard.printeers.com/action-center).

To resolve this, open **Settings → Locations** in your Shopify admin and rename or delete the location the warning names. Deactivated locations are listed in their own section on that page. The connection then completes automatically within a few minutes and the warning disappears.

## WooCommerce

For WooCommerce the connection starts in your own webshop:

1. Install the Printeers plugin from the [WordPress Plugin Directory](https://wordpress.org/plugins/printeers/).
2. In your WordPress admin, open the **Printeers** menu and select **Connect to Printeers**.
3. Log in to the Dashboard, or create a Printeers account if you do not have one yet.
4. You are sent back to complete the link, and your shop appears on the [Create store](https://dashboard.printeers.com/settings/stores/create) page. Select it there and finish the details below.

## WooCommerce: connection problems after setup

A connected WooCommerce store can stop syncing later — most often because a security plugin or firewall on your site starts blocking our requests, because the API access the plugin created was revoked, or because someone selected **Disconnect** in the Printeers plugin. When this happens the store's settings page shows a warning and we notify the users who have store notifications enabled; if access was revoked or the plugin was disconnected, an issue also appears in your [Action center](https://dashboard.printeers.com/action-center).

- If the warning says we **cannot reach your store**, check that your site is online and that no security plugin or firewall is blocking Printeers. Syncing resumes automatically once the requests get through again.
- If the warning says the store is **no longer connected**, reconnect it: open the **Printeers** menu in your WordPress admin and select **Connect to Printeers** again (if the plugin still shows the store as connected, select **Disconnect** first). This repairs the existing connection with fresh credentials — your store, products and settings in the Dashboard stay exactly as they are, and orders placed while the store was paused are imported.

Selecting **Disconnect** in the plugin only pauses the store. A copy of your site (a staging environment, or a site moved to a new domain) carries the plugin's connection along: with plugin version 1.1 or newer, the plugin on such a copy notices that it runs on a different address and only offers to remove the connection from that copy, leaving the live store untouched; with an older plugin, **Disconnect** on the copy pauses the live store, which you resume as described above. Update the plugin on every copy before disconnecting it. To take a store out of use for good, disconnect it from its settings page in the Dashboard — see [Manage your store settings](https://printeers.com/support/ordering/manage-store-settings.md).

## Finish the details

For an API or WooCommerce store you fill in:

- **Billing account**: the account the store's orders are billed to.
- **Store name**: a recognizable name; you will see it throughout the Dashboard.
- **Brand**: the default brand for orders from this store. Pick one of your existing brands, or keep the pre-selected option to create a new brand named after the store. You can change the default brand later in the store's settings.
- **Incident email address**: where we reach you if something needs your attention for this store.

## After connecting

Once a store is connected it appears in your [Stores](https://dashboard.printeers.com/settings/stores) list with its type and store code. From there orders coming from that shop are received and processed automatically. Select **View** on a store to open its settings at any time.
