# How to cancel an order

> Cancel an order in the Dashboard while it is still pending, before it goes into production.

If you need to cancel an order, this guide explains how. Two things to note first:

- Once an order has shipped, it can no longer be canceled.
- We do not cancel orders by phone.

## Cancel an order in the Dashboard

Orders placed through the Dashboard, the API, the WooCommerce plugin or Order Desk can be canceled in the Dashboard as long as they are **not yet in production**, that is, while the status is still ‘pending’.

Open the order, click the product, and enter how many items you want to cancel (or use the arrow buttons); confirm with the cancel button. For an order with several products, cancel each product separately. Canceled orders drop off your open-orders list, but you can still find them by searching the reference number.
